Family

I just realized I’ve never posted pictured of my son, Vinnie, on the blog! Shame on me…. anyway, here are a couple of pictures from child care here at Grace….

So, my mom came and visited us a few weeks ago and it was just about perfect!

As many of you know, mom found out she had cancer about this time last year and it was serious. At the time, she was really sick and Heather and I were weren’t even sure she would get to meet our not-yet-born baby. (Who turned out to be Vinnie!)

So, how amazing is it that she is feeling so well a year later that she could fly up and spend a long weekend with us! And we partied like crazy! (Don’t judge us… Jesus loved to party!) God is so very good!

And let me tell you, Vinnie loves his grandma! She played with him, helped him work on speaking real person words and marveled at his grunts and yells as he eats.

Lots of people have been praying and mom continues to be an example of faith, love and hope. I was sharing her story with someone at work and we came to this conclusion. Mom is living her life today the way most of us should. If you never have, you really ought to meet my mom, she’s awesome!

…that my son was able to dial 9-1-1 while chewing on and playing with the phone? We didn’t know he did it, until a nice police officer came to the door and said they had gotten a call that hung up and they called back and got a busy signal. He guessed it was just a case of “Vinsanity.”

No more playing with the phone…

So last week, vinnie had his skin tags in front of his left ear removed. It all went really well and the biggest struggle he had was not eating for 8 hours before surgery. If you’ve seen my son, it’s clear the boy likes his food. Anyway, he was pretty annoyed and upset after waking up from surgery, but we took him right home, got some food in him and he took a nap. Then he woke up, ate a full dinner, took a 30 minute break and then ate another full dunner while we ate. He’s a Mauriello!

As I reflect on that day, it’s been a powerful thing to think about handing you son over to some people and trusting that they are going to take good care of him. I guess we do that every time we get a babysitter or drop him off in the nursery, but it’s a whol other level when it is surgery. Heather and I had a peace about it all, as it was a simple procedure, but trusting the one you love into someone elses hands is always a spiritual moment for me…

OK, so I get home late last night after an awesome student ministries service… (more on that in a later post) and my computer isn’t working again! I spent hours the night before reformatting and installing Vista!!! So, I’ve narrowed the problem down to…

  • Motherboard – (I’ve always had some USB issues, not registering at 2.0…)
  • Power supply – (I have a hefty video card and I added to more hard drives when I installed Vista, maybe I pushed it over the edge)
  • Video Card – (Some of my errors were video related, but that could also come from the motherboard or powersupply…)
  • Vista – (grrrrr…)

It may be time for this old computer geek to go Mac…

It’s just past midnight and I have been trying to get my Vista system at home working again. Now, keep in mind I was a computer geek for plenty of years and I tend to be the guy my friends call when they have computer problems.

So, this is both humbling and a pain in the rear that my computer was broke and that I’m having trouble getting it working again!
